Engage Your Students with Goal-Directed Precepting
Help students take charge of their learning and workflow by identifying their own goals for the clinical rotation. Both you and the students should already be familiar with the broader institutional objectives and the basic content to be covered in the rotation. However, having a conversation with your students about their personal learning goals will facilitate active learning and encourage self-reflection.
Identifying the students' goals helps you understand their individual needs and education level. It also empowers students to understand the purpose of each clinical session and maximize learning opportunities.
